Daily Use
Smart switches behave like normal switches, which makes them easier for guests, children, and anyone who does not want to use an app. Smart bulbs need constant power; if someone turns the wall switch off, the bulb goes offline. That single behaviour is why switches are usually better for kitchens, hallways, and shared rooms.
Light Quality and Effects
Smart bulbs win when the light itself needs to change colour, shift colour temperature, or act independently from other bulbs in the same room. A switch can dim a ceiling circuit, but it cannot make one lamp warm white and another blue. For bedrooms, lounges, and accent lamps, bulbs offer far more atmosphere.
Installation and Cost
Bulbs are plug-and-play: screw them in, pair them, and you are done. Switches involve wiring, neutral-wire checks, and sometimes an electrician. But switches can control multiple ordinary bulbs at once, so a single smart dimmer may be cheaper than replacing six ceiling lamps with smart bulbs.
